Gabriel Garcia Márquez’s birthday, a Neustadt Prize Infographic, and more

Neustadt in the News

The Latin Times published this list of 15 great quotes from works by Neustadt laureate Gabriel García Márquez to celebrate his 88th birthday.

We’re delighted to announce that 1994 Neustadt Prize laureate Kamau Brathwaite has been honored with the 2015 Frost Medal by the Poetry Society of America.

We’re also excited to reveal our brand new infographic highlighting facts and statistics about the Neustadt Prize.

Lit Prizes

The 2015 Whiting Awards were announced at the New York Historical Society this week. The 10 chosen writers receive $50,000. The awards honor early accomplishment and a promise of great work to come in fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and playwriting.

Fun Finds and Inspiration

A post from the Financial Times explores some of the history behind literary festivals and discusses their rising popularity: “It’s the face-to-face interaction of readers and writers, surely, that gives the literary festival its special appeal in the age of the Internet.”
