Discovering shared stories, midnight reading in Taiwan, and more

Neustadt in the News

NSK laureate Naomi Shihab Nye was recently in conversation with author Hisham Bustani and translator Thoraya El-Rayyes about experimental forms of literature and what they can, and should, give to the world.

Naomi Shihab Nye also published a beautiful story in the Houston Chronicle this week about discovering a shared story among a group of diverse women at an airport.

We are happy to announce that Neustadt laureate Rohinton Mistry will be receiving the Times of India Lifetime Achievement Award during the Times Lit Fest this weekend.

Mistry’s novel A Fine Balance has also been named as one of the six books that best exemplifies life in Bombay, as chosen by novelist Jerry Pinto.

Fun Finds and Inspiration

Looking for a quirky gift for a literature lover in your life? Try this Dead Writers Perfume, guaranteed to make the wearer smell like they’ve been paging through old books all day.

Forget dancing! In Taiwan, night owls are flocking to a 24-hour bookstore that allows readers to read in peace and quiet, no matter the time of day or night.
