Best young-adult books, Mia Couto’s Neustadt Prize speech, and more

Neustadt in the News

This week, TIME published its list of the 100 best young-adult books of all time. We were delighted to see so many NSK Neustadt Prize laureates, nominees, and jurors among the authors named!

Is there a single moment when a writer decided to become a writer? At the Books LIVE website this week, an interview with Mia Couto digs deep into this question. (And if you haven’t seen or listened to Mia Couto’s Neustadt Prize acceptance speech, it’s available on the WLT website this month.)

Lit Prizes

We want to send our congratulations to all of the recipients of this year’s Hemingway Grant, recognizing excellence in French literature translation.

The longlist for the 2015 International Prize for Arabic Fiction was revealed this week, and in an unprecedented shift, five women made the cut, the most in the prize’s history.

Fun Finds and Inspiration

Ahead of the Digital Book World Conference next week in NYC, Publishers Marketplace is offering a complimentary report on the state of children’s ebooks and fan fiction.

If you’re a fan of Nobel laureate Mo Yan’s work, a brand new book is being touted as the perfect companion to Mo Yan’s fiction. Grab a copy at your local bookstore soon!
